Theory and Practice of Optical Microscopy

5 units, 4 hours lecture, 3 hours laboratory (GR or P/NP) Acceptable for credit: CSU Comprehensive survey of microscopy, from brightfield, epifluorescence, confocal, multiphoton, and scanning and transmission electron microscopes, to the newest technologies: Specimen preparation (both live and fixed), plus digital-image processing; laboratory includes hands- on experience with DIC, phase and epifluorescence microscopes, plus tissue culture, and Adobe Photoshop. 0430.00
