The bioscience department at Merritt college has many outreach programs, such as dual enrollment in local high schools and a scopes-2-schools microscope loaning project. I started the PSF just before the pandemic hit. Originally we were based at Merritt Community College in the hills of Oakland, CA. I was, and am, an adjunct professor in the bioscience department at Merritt. In addition to teaching microscopy, I began tutoring a handful of students in their basic STEM classes. The PSF was just getting going when everything shut down. and most things went online, which was difficult for teachers and students. While I helped the students I had,
